At South Windham Post & Beam Co. we believe that the most exceptional homes, barns and additions begin with an authentic post and beam frame. There is nothing like the beauty, durability and performance that happens when large pieces of planed and oiled wood are joined together in the traditional fashion of pegging tenon to mortise. This is done primarily with hand tools the way it has for centuries and we feel excited and privileged each day that we get to continue and enhance that tradition.

When this time honored and tested method of construction is combined with an insulated panel enclosure system not only is the entire frame completely highlighted but the state of the art energy performance that is achieved is difficult to match. We feel this combination is truly the best of both worlds- modern energy efficiency and a house frame much like a very large piece of furniture you get to live in.

We hope that after you get to know South Windham Post & Beam Co. a little better you will want to contact us so you may begin turning your wishes and dreams into residential reality.

What People Say About Our Work:

"Bob Benjamen and Alex Nishball erected a 2,500 square foot oak timber frame barn with insulated roof panels and a cedar king post truss on our property located in Hampton Connecticut during the fall and winter months of 2012-2013.
Our decision to work with SWPB stemmed from a review of their previously completed work, a series of conversations with local craftsmen and a deep commitment to the process of constructing an authentic timber frame barn within the intrinsically rural New England fabric we call home.
From our initial meeting with Bob held around our kitchen table it was clear to us both that SWPB are not 'framers', 'builders' nor contractors.  They are craftsmen.  Taking the opportunity to work alongside Bob and Lex in their shop and on the job site while they cut and erected our frame allowed a further understanding of the traditional timber frame joinery and appreciation for the varied reasons we selected SWPB for our project.
Having now had our final meeting with Bob held around his kitchen table, we're both superbly satisfied with the project, unabashedly pleased with the structure which graces our property and proud to call Bob both a businessman and a friend."
